While times have been kind of slow around the Polydactyl members, Corbin has been busy trying to form a band to showcase his solo stuff. The band is called Noiserock Treehouse and so far it has only one other member besides Corbin himself. Below is some never before heard demos and a rehearsal recording of "Alabaster;" a song off Lauren Moseley's Kissingerology.

Roots Show Highlights

Corbin, Jill, and Lauren just finished up another top notch show at Roots Coffeehouse in North Richland Hills this Friday. First was Jill who played acoustic originals and covers, which we are fortunate to have recorded this time around. Next up was Corbin's solo set and then lastly was Lauren backed by Corbin. For the songs "Bobby Fischer" and "Honey Please," the duo was backed by harmonica player Brian Morgan. It was a wonderful experience to play in a very close and comfortable space once again and we will hopefully be gearing up for another show in the mid cities area around Spring Break, or possibly earlier in Denton. Special thanks to all those who came, Brian Morgan for the Harmonica Playing, Roots Coffeehouse, and Dave the sound guy who helped us get a good mix for the show.

For our first live show in Denton things went pretty well. Jill Bates, the "dark horse" opener for the band performed exceptionally for it being her first live performance. Lauren and the band rocked some faces off, though it felt a little out of place for the venue (oh well!). Great show with photography by Jon Huey and Jill on video. The band is gearing up for another Denton show hopefully in September. If you didn't make it to that one, I ask you to consider making it to the next one.

Band Camp!

Divshare sucks so we are switching to bandcamp. This means everybody will have an easy way of downloading stuff. A couple of eccentricities:
--Everything is pay what you want. While we do not expect you to pay, we do have a maximum of 200 free downloads of anything per month.
--For each free download we require an email address. This is to prevent robots from taking up all the downloads. Also it would be nice to hear from you!
--If you decide to pay though, we humbly request that you pay enough to avoid us from going into debt! What I mean is that paypal has a transaction fee (2.9% + $0.30) and bandcamp takes 10% so something that is at or above those two would be great!
--I will be going through the entire back catalog to get it up there. It takes a lot of time because I have to convert the MP3s to WAVs then upload them two at a time. WE HAVE A LOT OF SONGS. So it will take a while (i.e. this weekend has just been shot). If you have to have your favorite ASAP, please feel free to email and I will do it first.
--Its going to be ugly. I will also try to take some time to spruce it up but we'll see.
--We may or may not feel comfortable with covers on the album so those might get removed. EDIT: OK since bandcamp is nice enough to sell stuff for us, we've decided to follow their rules and not post covers. Albums that do have covers will be posted on bandcamp without the cover, but the blog will have a link to a zip with the cover in it.

Hopefully these changes are for the better for us and for you.

The Show at Play Pause Replay was a Success, at least in my opinion. Well... It's not up yet but it will be eventually. All I'm waiting on is something to be drawn up for it. We should have a good show for ye: both 'o' the Daily Bros (courtesy of barnyard records http://barnyardmusic.blogspot.com/ ) and both 'o' the Young Bros. I guess it's The Brotherhood of Brothers Sampler.

In other news, music from a band that I do not know the title of (but led by Corbin Young) may be available. They have recorded a four song-ep, which if they have an excess of, I will release here.

On the money, the sampler will be used to raise funds for the label (because I don't want to have to use my personal cds and cases for every single project), while the ep, if sold, will go solely for the band's profit because I had nothing to do with making it (well, sorta, but that's taken care of).

In the works are a new album by Chris Daily and the debut solo album of Broderick Young. I will give more details on those as they develop. However, the solo album has already been made and posted on another blog.

I would like to bring up another issue about the costs of everything. If you know me personally or see me at a show where I am physically selling things and you buy something in person, there will be no shipping cost. I predict shipping will be a pain in the ass for me, especially because I haven't done it before (well I haven't really done anything before). I'll probably try to be nice to the first few of you and maybe throw in a bonus or something.

This website is now the home of Polydactyl Records. I'm going to try to sell music through this site. Here's my business model. The music is free, however if it's already posted somewhere else you can get it there. You buy this stuff because you either want a physical copy or you want to support us. I will try to make the business side of it as transparent as possible. I'm going to do something similar to Rough Trade, a 50/50 split of all profits. The price you will pay will be the costs of packaging and physical stuff, the cost of shipping, and whatever we decide the cd/cassete/record is worth. As I said, the last part will be split 50/50 between the people who made it and the record label (i.e. me and others if it gets bigger). This brings up a good question of where exactly the vast coffers of the record label will go. Two places. First, I like getting paid for effort I'm exerting. However, I will try to keep this to a reasonable minmum. Secondly, the money will go into making stuff for new music or clearing up legalities of old music (a high school musical?). For every single disc I will break down where all of the money is going. Which brings up another good point. How much will said discs cost? Well I don't like paying 20 bucks for a cd and I don't know anyone who does. As I said the music is free though. However, for you generous and rich souls out there, it won't be expensive. I've sold copies of my debut solo album for 3 bucks (1.50 for materials, 50 cents towards my producer/recording guy, 1 dollar for me which went into making more). This is probably less than what the actual cds will be sold for but I don't think I want to sell cds for more than 10 dollars so I'll try to keep that down.

The first order of business will be getting a sample disc up of the artists in our cult (ha ha ha.... fine). I'll post it up here and start designing the covers. For this one it might be extra cheap (i.e. no profit) so you can buy them as gifts for all of your friends!
